Web 2.0 Summit attendees should have known by the switch in Mark Zuckerberg’s footsie covers that the Facebook CEO meant business. Zucks traded his plastic Adidas flip-flops for sneakers to discuss (sort of) rumors that company sent CFO Gideon Yu to the Middle East to seek financing. Skirting the question, Zucks responded to host John Batelle inquiry by saying, “I’ve never been to Dubai. I’m told it’s nice at this time of the year.” Not satisfied with the casually-dressed CEO’s non-answers and weather jokes, Batelle pressed on with questions about Facebook’s finances. Zuckerberg gave in a bit to the line of questioning, insisting the company’s priority remains growth, not revenue optimization and denied any money troubles. It seems old Zucks may have switched to sneakers in an attempt to run away from uncomfortable questions a tad bit faster than he could in preferred footwear of frat boys and those who shower in public restrooms.
